Know Your Rights: Work and Family Mobility Act (WFMA)

In 2022, the Work and Family Mobility Act (WFMA) became law in Massachusetts. This historic bill permits all qualified drivers to apply for a license, regardless of immigration status.
The ACLU of Massachusetts and its partners advocated for this bill for over 20 years, and shortly after it became law, we defeated an effort to repeal the law at the ballot box. We continue to help ensure the new law lives up to its promise through effective privacy regulations, public education, and outreach.
