Carol Rose, executive director of the ACLU of Massachusetts, today released the following statement in response to the compromise policing bill:
“Nationwide, people have taken to the streets to end police violence, and we applaud the Beacon Hill leaders who committed early to respond to calls for reform and racial justice. The ACLU is grateful to House Speaker Robert DeLeo and Senate President Karen Spilka for their leadership, as well as the unwavering dedication of Representative Claire Cronin, Senator William Brownsberger, and their fellow conferees to report out a bill that begins to address the challenges of this historic moment. We look forward to studying the details of this bill.”
