Carol Rose, executive director of the ACLU of Massachusetts, today released the following statement in response to Governor Baker signing into law the ‘grand bargain’ bill, including paid family and medical leave:

“The ACLU of Massachusetts is thrilled that the Commonwealth has made itself a national leader in supporting working families and providing paid leave. This landmark legislation is critical to achieving economic equality for women and security for all hardworking Bay Staters, who too often have to choose between the job they need and the family they love. The Governor, leaders on Beacon Hill, and advocates have together taken a big step to creating a stronger, healthier, more equitable Massachusetts.”
