We Need the ROE Act Now

Senate President Karen Spilka, House Speaker Bob DeLeo, and Governor Charlie Baker

With the confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to the U.S. Supreme Court, Roe v. Wade and the right to safe, legal abortion are at risk like never before.

Amy Coney Barrett’s record speaks for itself— she represents a significant threat to our reproductive freedom and civil rights. There are currently 18 abortion-related cases one step away from the Supreme Court, and we can no longer rely on the Supreme Court to protect our rights and health.

Add your name now and urge state leaders to defend Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s legacy by passing provisions of the ROE Act in the state budget that remove and reduce barriers to abortion access now.

The provisions included in the state budget do more than protect abortion rights; they improve access to care. The provisions ensure 16 and 17 years olds can make their own decisions about abortion care in consultation with doctors, not judges. and they ensure access to abortion later in pregnancy in cases of fatal fetal diagnosis. These protections will help people in Massachusetts access safe and legal abortion care without delays or barriers, no matter what happens in Washington, D.C.

Now facing a Supreme Court majority which opposes abortion, Massachusetts must guarantee equitable access to abortion care for all. Sign the petition today to urge Massachusetts leaders to pass provisions of the ROE Act as part of the state budget.

By filling out this petition, you are agreeing to receive periodic updates from the ROE Act Coalition partners: ACLU Massachusetts, NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts and Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund of Massachusetts, Inc.

As Massachusetts residents, we urge you to honor the life and legacy of the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg by passing the ROE Act immediately

Faced with the real possibility that the Supreme Court could soon undermine reproductive freedom, Massachusetts must lead. We must not only affirm the right to safe, legal abortion, but also ensure that all Bay Staters have equitable access to the reproductive health care they need—free from medically unnecessary obstacles grounded in stigma and shame.

What you do in the coming weeks and months may very well determine the future of abortion access in Massachusetts. Please pass the ROE Act as swiftly as possible.
